This does happen from time to time however, it is rare and requires both owners to be on the same page. When calls like this one comes in it is important to fully document all communications between all parties, also it is important to determine who is the one in charge and who is responsible for payment before any work begins. The upside to a shared project like this one is the cost to repair and fix the problems is split between two neighbors. In this case it was determined the line need to be inspected to see what exactly is going on and why does one house receive more raw sewage backup issues than the other home. The contractor who took the call agreed to go out and investigate the ongoing sewer problem.
